EAL NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical 501/1605/8 Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures)

This course is perfect if you are looking to become a fully qualified electrician. This course is open to you providing you have already achieved your Level 2 and 3 technical certificates this could be the 2365 or 2330. To become fully qualified and apply for your JIB Gold Card you will need to complete all the performance units and a bridging unit of the NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical, additionally you will need to complete the *AM2 which is the final unit required for the NVQ. (*Please note the AM2 is not included see AM2 below)

 QELTP3/001 – Applying health and safety legislation and working practices (installing and maintaining electrotechnical systems and equipment)

 QELTP3/002-Applying environmental legislation, working practices and the principles of environmental technology systems

 QELTP3/003 –Overseeing and organising the work environment (electrical installation)

 QELTP3/004-Planning, preparing and installing wiring systems and associated equipment in buildings, structures and the environment

 QELTP3/005- Terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords in electrical systems

 QELTP3/006-Inspecting, testing, commissioning and certifying electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment

 QELTP3/007 –Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults in electrical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment

 QEOC3/001-Electrotechnical Occupational Competence (*AM2)

 Two (in some cases three) Observations – AKA Site Visits

What is this qualification?

This qualification is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) and is part of the Apprenticeship framework developed by SummitSkills. NVQs encourage an employee to value their contribution to the workplace, and develop their skills and potential. It is recognised by the Joint Industry Board (JIB) for grading. This qualification requires occupational evidence.

What does it cover?

The skills required to install electrotechnical systems and equipment in buildings, structures and the environment.
The qualification is made up of performance units. The units cover a wide range of topics including health and safety, environmental technology systems, overseeing and organising the work environment, planning, preparing and installing electrical systems and equipment, terminating and connecting conductors, cables and flexible cords, inspecting, testing, commissioning and fault diagnosis and correction.

AM2 Assessment

Integral to this qualification is the Electrotechnical Occupational Competence Unit which is assessed by the AM2. **Please note that the cost of the AM2 is not included in the cost of this qualification and will need to taken at an AM2 centre prior to the completion of this qualification, advice can been given on centres locally.
